The Current (Fourteen Days)
Autumn migrations this year filled skies, land and water. Waves of birds streamed across skies, landing in droves on fields, feeding and lifting off again, sailing on currents over the large lake south of here, keeping holes open in the water for fishing and drinking. I began to become aware of the current that moved flocks, responding to wind, sun, moisture, each other, all flawlessly choreographed in the deep, mysterious natural world.
In early December, a very cold and gray weather pattern held here for fourteen days. During this time came a long immersion in the studio, when these felt and seen currents showed up on canvas.
